This ivory corner sofa was suffering from colour loss and dog scratches. Firstly our technician starts with a leather cleaning service by using a leather cleaner and a scrubbing brush. By doing this it brings all of the dirt out of the grain of the sofa. Once the dirt is brought up the technician uses a lint-free cloth to wipe it all away. Now that the sofa is cleaned the technician uses leather prep. This takes the manufacturer’s coating off of the sofa. Similarly, they use a lint-free cloth for this too.

Filling and colouring

Next the technician uses leather filler to fill the cracks on the ivory sofa panels. After the filler has been applied the technician dries the filler with a hairdryer. Now that the filler is dry the technician uses sand paper to sand the area and make it smooth.

And now the technician applies the ivory colour. Firstly they use a lint-free cloth to initiate leather colour restoration to apply a base coat by hand. After this has been done and dried with a hairdryer the technician begins to colour alternatively. This is now done using the air compressor to spray the sofa ensuring it gets the best possible coverage.

Final stages

The technician then applies the final layer onto the sofa, this is of the lacquer which is used to seal the repair. After the repairs have been completed the area needs to be left for at least 1 hour. Until it is dry enough to touch if the customer wishes to have a closer look at the repair however we do not recommend it if you can help it. The area should then not be used for approximately 48 hours depending on how much colour and filler is applied during the repair and on how much damage there was to repair.

On going maintenance

We advise that all leather is cleaned and protected every six months this allows the leather to stay clean and fresh and the protection cream gives that extra barrier between the wear and tear and the sofa.

We offer a yearly maintenance plan for all customers that have had our full restoration service. This is where you get a reduced fixed price for us to visit every year. This to undertake a full clean and minor repairs for the price of our standard clean package. If you would like to take advantage of this package please speak to technician while on site.
